Dr. Abdelwahab’s Pioneering Innovations

  1. The first composer to apply dodecaphonic and serial technique to Arabic Maqam, producing a new musical technique known as "Maqamism" (Cairo, 1989)
  2. The first composer to produce a composition for violin four hands, requiring two players and two bows on a single violin (Vienna, 1994).
  3. The first Egyptian composer to notate pieces based on traditional Arabic Taqaeem improvisations (Cairo, 1999).
  4. Devised a new system of music notation for the deaf that is based on color patterns and shapes, capable of aesthetically representing key elements of all forms of traditional music (Boston, 2008).
  5. The first Egyptian composer writes electronic music in chart music notation in his composition "Chernobyl"
